From startup to global market leader
In 1919, Otto Bock founded Orthopädische Industrie GmbH – a bona-fide startup in today’s terms – in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. By introducing the fabrication of components for prostheses, the company succeeded in fundamentally changing the entire field of orthopaedic technology.
The beginning of a decades-long partnership
In Seoul in 1988, the foundation was laid for a partnership that has lasted more than three decades. Under the motto “Passion for Paralympics”, we provide technical support for the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games.
We are proud to be able to support so many athletes, and our commitment to sports helps people with disabilities maintain or regain their freedom of movement.

Management of the company
Ottobock is a partnership limited by shares and is not listed on the stock exchange (SE & Co. KGaA). 100 per cent of the shares are held by Näder Holding, which is owned by the Näder family.

A whole century has passed since the company was founded by my grandfather, Otto Bock, but the company’s guiding principle has remained unchanged: quality of life and mobility for people with disabilities.
