Great stories often begin with a turning point. This new Ottobock documentary tells the story of two. At the heart of “TWO. The Andreas Onea Story” is Paralympic swimmer, TV presenter and inclusion advocate Andreas Onea, whose life was fundamentally changed by a serious car accident in childhood. The documentary premieres on the Ottobock YouTube channel on 22 September 2026 and will be screened in front of a live audience for the first time during an exclusive event in Berlin later that day.

With “TWO. The Andreas Onea Story,” Ottobock and We Make Them Wonder continue their series of high-quality documentary formats that put authentic human stories center stage. The film follows Andreas Onea at another pivotal moment in his life: the beginning of a new chapter with a bionic arm prosthesis.

“TWO” represents two defining moments. The first is the accident in which Onea lost his left arm at the age of six. The second is the start of a new phase of life with a modern prosthetic solution that opens up new possibilities in everyday life, family life and work. As the first user worldwide, Onea wears the new Michelangelo prosthetic hand in combination with the myosmart plus control system and the DynamicArm as a complete upper-limb solution from Ottobock.

“This documentary is not about what I lost, but about the possibilities that emerged from it. If my story encourages people to look at challenges differently and embrace new paths, then the film has achieved its goal,” says Andreas Onea.

A story that goes far beyond sport.

Onea is among Europe’s best-known para athletes. He has won medals at the Paralympic Games, World Championships and European Championships, while also building a successful career as a moderator, speaker and advocate for inclusion. His story demonstrates the power of perspective and shows how people can transform setbacks into new opportunities.

“TWO” connects this personal journey with a broader question: what role can technology play in enabling greater independence, autonomy and participation? In doing so, the documentary explores topics that extend beyond medical technology and are increasingly relevant to brands, businesses and society as a whole.

The documentary will celebrate its premiere on 22 September at Ottobock’s location on the historic grounds of the former Bötzow Brewery in Berlin. The film will be screened for a selected audience before Ottobock records a live episode of its “Taste of Bionics” podcast, hosted by Sarah de Lagarde.

Following a serious accident, de Lagarde lives with both an arm and a leg prosthesis and describes herself as “80 percent human and 20 percent bionic.” This experience shapes her perspective on diversity, disability awareness and technological innovation. Together with Andreas Onea, she will discuss how resilience, representation and technology can create new possibilities.

“Taste of Bionics” combines personal experiences with perspectives from science and futures research. The focus is not only on what technology can do, but also on how it feels in everyday life, how it strengthens participation and how it can change the way society views disability. In doing so, Ottobock creates a platform for authentic conversations at the intersection of people and technology.
