Sustainability in Focus
Sustainability Highlight Report: the Stories Behind the Numbers

Thursday, 28 May 2026
The past months have been characterized by important milestones and impressive moments. With the goal of creating transparency, the Global Sustainability division has taken a significant step: following the IPO and an intensive preparation phase, this year the non-financial report was published for the first time as part of the annual report.
The basis for this was the worldwide collection of key figures as well as a materiality analysis carried out in 2025 along the value chain. The focus is on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing employee satisfaction, and strengthening cybersecurity. All key figures, measures, and objectives are presented in the non-financial group report – a clear commitment to a sustainable and responsible future.
Initiatives for Lived Sustainability
With the now published Sustainability Highlight Report, the focus is consciously placed on the stories behind the numbers. The report tells about the initiatives of our employees who bring sustainability to life. A special highlight in 2024 was the Paralympic Games in Paris: Over 3,000 repairs were carried out on-site – an extraordinary effort that supported athletes and inspired people worldwide.
At the same time, it once again highlighted that access to prostheses, orthoses, and wheelchairs is not guaranteed in many countries. We understand mobility as a human right. An important contribution to this is the International School for Orthopedic and Prosthetic Technology (O&P) of the Ottobock Global Academy, which trains international professionals and thus enables sustainable care on-site.
Award-Winning Commitment
We also have clear goals in the environmental sector: to reduce our ecological footprint. Whether through less packaging and waste, more efficient transport routes, or energy savings with the help of our ISO management systems – the CO₂ reduction projects span many departments. Being awarded the German Sustainability Award for this is a special achievement and a recognition of the commitment of our employees. Sustainability is firmly anchored in our corporate strategy.
You can find further highlights from the areas of environment, social, and corporate governance in the Sustainability Highlight Report 2024/2025.
The idea of sustainability has replaced luxurious packaging concepts. We have noticed that our customers place great value on sustainable and functional packaging rather than a 'wow effect.' For orders, we are specifically asked what we do to keep the amount of packaging used as low as possible, and there are questions about how recyclable it is.
Daniel Troch, Head of Supply Chain Engineering
It is necessary to improve access to assistive devices for all people, no matter what income they have. Government support must also be expanded and improved. Every person should have the opportunity to be provided with the best possible assistive devices.
Mariana Maloste Butezloff, graduate of the Ottobock O&P School
Cybersecurity is a top priority at Ottobock. (...) Without exaggeration, I believe I can say that we have caught up a lot in recent years and are now probably better than the average. This result can only be achieved if the company and its employees fully support it.
Henning Christiansen, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
