New exoskeleton from ‘SUITX by Ottobock’ goes into series production

With the IX BACK VOLTON, ‘SUITX by Ottobock’ is launching a new intelligent exoskeleton. During physically demanding activities, it relieves pressure on the back by up to 17 kilograms per lifting process. Weighing only 4.8 kilograms, the exoskeleton is the world’s lightest battery-operated model in its class. Following a successful beta phase and its premiere at Hannover Messe in March 2025, the exoskeleton is now celebrating its market launch at the A+A Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. From November 4 to 7, 2025, visitors can experience and test the innovation at the ‘SUITX by Ottobock’ booth (Hall 5, Stand A13)."

A new solution for healthy workplaces in logistics and industry

The IX BACK VOLTON was developed specifically for physically demanding tasks in dynamic working environments, such as order picking or loading and unloading products of different weights. Musculoskeletal disorders are particularly common where employees regularly lift heavy loads. The new exoskeleton offers effective support when organisational and technical measures reach their limits.

The IX BACK VOLTON is the first intelligent exoskeleton in the ‘SUITX by Ottobock’ portfolio of products, equipped with precise motor technology and a high-performance battery. Power is supplied by the Bosch AMPShare system, which provides a battery life of up to eight hours. The exoskeleton thus reliably supports a complete work shift. At the same time, the 18 V system, which is compatible across all brands, ensures a high level of user-friendliness: the batteries are easy to replace and can be seamlessly integrated into existing infrastructures.

Experience exoskeletons live at the A+A

The official market launch will take place at the A+A trade show in Düsseldorf, the leading international trade show for occupational health and safety. Visitors can experience the IX BACK VOLTON live at Stand A13 in Hall 5, try it out for themselves and discuss ergonomic solutions with experts. In addition to the new model, the ‘SUITX by Ottobock’ team will also be presenting its entire portfolio of exoskeletons, including solutions to relieve strain during overhead work, lifting and other physically demanding tasks. The aim of these systems is to promote employee health and provide long-term support in creating ergonomic workplaces.
