RI Centennial Award goes to Ottobock
Commitment to people with disabilities honored

For its special commitment to the rights and interests of people with disabilities, the medical technology company Ottobock has secured the RI Centennial Award of Significant Contributions. The award ceremony took place as part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the organization Rehabilitation International (RI) in Beijing on May 21, 2023. Kevin Harney, Regional President Asia Pacific, accepted the award on behalf of Ottobock.
Under the motto "On the way to the next century: Promoting the equal participation of people with disabilities worldwide", the five-day anniversary event offered a varied program with interdisciplinary symposia and forums. The highlight was the presentation of the RI Centennial Award at a colorful gala event with around 250 guests. A total of 100 winners from all over the world were awarded.
Kevin Harney gave the acceptance speech on behalf of Prof. Hans Georg Näder: "We are very pleased to receive this award in recognition of our long-standing commitment to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities." At the same time, he emphasizes that RI and Ottobock are united by a common understanding of inclusion. In addition to the certificate and a medal, Ottobock received prize money of US$ 10,000.
30 years of Ottobock in China
30 years ago, Professor Hans Georg Näder opened the first Ottobock branch on the Asian market in China. Since then, Ottobock has been working closely with the China Disabled Persons' Federation to expand its medical technology infrastructure and sustainably improve local orthopaedic care.
