The countdown is on: The 19th World Congress of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) will be held from 24 to 27 April in Guadalajara, Mexico. In keeping with this year's motto “The Art and the Science” Ottobock is presenting medical technology product innovations and custom fitting solutions in the German pavilion as a symbiosis of medical devices, high-tech and design. Evidence-based expert contributions by renowned Ottobock scientists round off the conference presence.

CEO & CSO Oliver Jakobi will open the exhibition stand together with Georgia Näder, Vice President of Futuring Mediterranee & Business Transition, and Marcelo Cuscuna, Regional President of Ottobock in Latin America.

Ottobock is presenting product highlights from the fields of prosthetics, orthotics and neuromobility as a diamond sponsor on 154 square metres in Hall 7, Stand D04. “As the result of our intensive research and development work, we are presenting, for example, our proven mechatronic knee joints for users with various mobility grades, and digital fitting solutions will also be the focus,” says Oliver Jakobi.

Extensive specialist programme for experts

Ottobock offers a comprehensive specialist programme with numerous workshops, symposia and open lectures by renowned scientists. Dr Andreas Kannenberg, Executive Medical Director Clinical Research, will kick off the event. He will talk about case studies on the medical necessity of prostheses and orthoses. Dr Andreas Hahn, Corporate Vice President Clinical Research and Services, analyses the effect of microprocessor-controlled knee joints in exoprosthetics. Prof. Dr Malte Bellmann, Head of Biomechanical Research, will conclude on 27 April with a presentation on the benefits of a microprocessor foot on steep slopes.

“With around 90 international exhibitors and 400 speakers from all over the world, the ISPO Congress is the ideal platform for promoting the interdisciplinary exchange of experience and knowledge in our industry. We can learn a lot from each other in order to continuously improve the quality of treatment for people with disabilities,” Oliver Jakobi summarizes.

After the ISPO Congress, Ottobock will be returning to Latin America on 20 October: Ottobock will be providing technical service to the athletes as a partner at the Parapan American Games in Santiago de Chile.
