Mountains bathed in sunlight, a seemingly endless view, the untouched blanket of snow – and then the descent begins. For Marian Veith, that means freedom. The Munich native loves freeskiing and spends every free minute in the mountains in winter until an avalanche buries him. Marian loses his right leg in the accident. What follows is a story that only life could write. It is: The Story of Marian.

The new YouTube documentary series “New Boundaries – The Story of Marian” follows the 34-year-old on his journey and tells how he grew beyond his limits after this life-changing event and setting himself a big goal: to be able to ski again one day.

A real story that encourages

The joint project between the health-tech company Ottobock and the film production WE MAKE THEM WONDER portrays, for the first time, the entire emotional spectrum from recovery after an amputation to the new opportunities for living with a prosthesis.

“My goal in telling my story was not to focus the avalanche itself, but to show what came afterwards and how I overcame it all. With this film project, I hope to give others the strength to overcome traumatic life events I no longer set myself any boundaries,” says Marian, describing his motivation to do the documentary.

“At Ottobock, we support people on their journey from an amputation to a life as independently as possible. Marian’s story is a very special one, and it was a privilege to follow Marian for two years and be able to tell his story in such detail,” explains Martin Wider, Vice President Customer Experience at Ottobock. “This documentary not only shows what it means to lose a leg and overcome physical challenges, but an emotional journey full of willpower, setbacks, determination and self-confidence.”

The four-part documentary series is now available on Ottobock’s YouTube Channel.
