Mastering neurological challenges together
Rehacare 2022: Ottobock presents integrated fitting solutions
NeuroMobility is Ottobock's leading topic at Rehacare 2022 in Düsseldorf (hall 6, exhibition stand A29). The healthtech company's new, holistic treatment approach combines solutions for people with neurological disorders. This includes a new spasticity reduction suit as well as a new wheelchair line for children and adolescents.
”People with neurological indications such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and (incomplete) paraplegia need numerous products and services during their entire lives,” says Philipp Hoefer, Director DACH at Ottobock HealthCare Deutschland GmbH. “Under the umbrella of NeuroMobility, we work to master the challenges in partnership with patients, their family members and the multi-professional care network. It's all about creating the best possible treatment for more mobility, quality of life and inclusion.”
A suit against spasticity
The new Exopulse Mollii Suit is a product highlight at Rehacare 2022. The world's first neuromodulation suit can help people with neurological disorders live more active lives. In order to accomplish this, 58 electrodes integrated into the suit send out electrical signals that relax the muscles. This relieves spasticity and pain and activates muscle groups – with just one hour of stimulation a day.
”The feedback from the first users is outstanding in some cases – depending on their personal indications and complaints. One example is a user with MS who has been dependent on a wheelchair since the age of 25. But thanks to the Exopulse Mollii Suit, she is able to walk again and lead a more active life,” says Daniel Hublitz, Head of Market Management NeuroMobility at Ottobock HealthCare Deutschland GmbH. “Often it's small things that change with the suit, but make a big difference in everyday life: sleeping better, sitting or holding a pen.”
The wheelchair for kids that grows with the child
For the autumn 2022 market launch, Ottobock is presenting the new Kiddo wheelchair line and the seating shell mobility base from Veldink4kids for the first time at Rehacare. The rigid-frame wheelchairs that grow with the child are available starting at a seat depth and width of just 16 centimetres, thereby supporting the mobility of the youngest. Thanks to their adaptability, the Veldink4kids devices support them reliably over many years. This allows children and adolescents to move about actively and independently. In addition, there is a wide selection of accessories and clever options specifically designed for this purpose, such as a child-friendly drum brake or steering and transfer aids.
With its Kiddo wheelchairs, Ottobock now provides treatment from a young age with the perfect transition between a rehab buggy and adult wheelchairs. In addition to the new models, Ottobock is also presenting a selection of wheelchairs for active use at Rehacare, such as the Motus and Avantgarde, the Juvo power wheelchair and the Kimba rehab buggy.
Taking you further – with the C-Brace leg orthosis
Another highlight at the Ottobock exhibition stand is the C-Brace. The world's only stance and swing phase controlled leg orthosis can make walking possible again for people with partial or total paralysis of the knee extension musculature. Whether walking slowly or quickly, going down stairs, walking on slopes or across uneven terrain, users experience a new sense of freedom when moving with the C-Brace. The microprocessor-controlled orthosis responds to the respective requirements in real time, making users safer in everyday life.
