Reliability, comfort, performance – tailored to individual needs:The Ottobock speedhand solution delivers everything users expect from a modern prosthetic hand: dependable performance, comfortable wear, and highly individualised control. Building on the proven technology of previous models, this new generation sets a higher standard for personalisation. Combined with Ottobock’s modular wrists, the intuitive and user-friendly myosmart control system, the myosmart cuff, and the connectgrip app, this complete solution offers outstanding functionality and ease of use.
At the core: natural movement made easier
At the heart of the solution is the speedhand itself – now redesigned to enable even more natural movement. The newly developed wrist flex joint allows the hand to bend, enhancing ease of use in everyday situations. When not actively in use, the thumb automatically moves into a relaxed position – offering a more natural appearance and making tasks like putting on a jacket noticeably easier. The latest version also operates more quietly than ever, thanks to reduced motor noise.
Reliable performance with personalised control
The speedhand offers the proven strength, speed, and reliability of Ottobock’s myoelectric prosthetic hands. With the myosmart control system, users can precisely define how their hand responds. Several electrodes integrated into the prosthetic socket detect even the slightest residual muscle activity through the skin, allowing the hand to open and close with targeted, effortless movement.
Via the connectgrip app, users can independently adjust settings such as response speed at any time – directly from an Apple or Android device. The app features a clear and user-friendly interface, supports real-time visual feedback, and enables custom movement recording to help reduce unintended actions. This improves and enhances overall control for users and provides professionals with effective tools to optimise both fit and performance.
Effective training right from the start
The myosmart cuff supports users early in the fitting process. Shortly after amputation, it allows them to experience and learn how to control a hand prosthesis even before receiving a customised socket. Later, it serves as a training device to improve accuracy and confidence in daily use.
More comfort, more possibilities – the new speedhand solution
With its advanced control system and flexible modular options, the speedhand solution provides greater comfort in daily routines – while retaining the trusted performance of earlier models. Various wrist modules, which allow bending or rotation, support a wide range of everyday tasks.
As Ottobock’s shortest myoelectric hand to date, the speedhand improves natural movement and ease of use. This was a game-changer for user Bozena: “At last, I can use both a knife and fork at the same time in a restaurant.” Bozena, born with dysmelia and working at a university, uses the speedhand solution with confidence for everything from her daily life to home renovation projects with her partner.
