From judoka to outstanding weightlifter

Ali was a talented judoka in his early teens. At the age of 16, friends encouraged him to try weightlifting.

It quickly became apparent that he had great potential to compete at the international level.

This was confirmed just a year later in 2007, when Ali won silver at the Junior World Championships and gold in the Para European Championships in power lifting.

”Why be the best when you can also be the greatest?”

Never give up

Ali was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2009, shortly after the Paralympic Games in Beijing. But he never considered giving up the fight and carried on his sport of weightlifting. His hard training and strict diet paid off at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, where he won the silver medal.
